Delegate Cosgrove has sponsored several key pieces of legislation that has passed the House of Delegates and is now making its way in the State Senate.

• HB 223 Sex offenders; prohibiting proximity to children.

• HB 233 Dishwashing detergents; bans use of phosphorus therein for household dishwashing machines. (Passed House and Senate)

• HB 238 Income tax, state; exemption for launch services and payload to space flight participants.

• HB 239 Real estate tax; classification of certain energy-efficient buildings.

• HB 578 Innovative Technology Authority; powers of board of directors.

• HJ 89 Southeastern Public Service Authority; Auditor of Public Accounts to collect, receive, etc. data.

• HJ 90 Science, etc. Education in State at Elementary, etc. Levels, Joint Subcom. studying; continued.

• HJ 344 Celebrating the life of Staff Sergeant Jonathan Kilian Dozier. (Agreed to by Senate)

• HJ 360 Commending the Virginia National Guard. (Agreed to by Senate)

Supporting transportation solutions

Delegate Cosgrove is pleased to announce his support for fellow Chesapeake Delegate S. Chris Jones' bill which will use modeling and simulation to design and study major transportation projects, such as the expansion of the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel, before they are built -- potentially saving taxpayers millions of dollars.

"In particular, the joint subcommittee shall consider construction projects considered or approved by the Hampton Roads Transportation Authority, including but not limited to improvements to and expansion of the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel, and, through use of modeling and simulations, assess the need for and relative priority of all such projects," reads the resolution.

The one year, 10-member joint subcommittee will study the Hampton Roads transportation network and receive input from local government officials, the business community, and the general public on how transportation needs should most appropriately and efficiently be addressed.
